Hello and Happy New Year to you all! In the Hart house, we’ve kick started the new year with a MASSIVE home declutter and clear out. Amazingly, we’ve managed to rid ourselves of about 70% of our stuff, that we really didn’t need. Or rather, the extra space was far more valuable to us than the object itself, so it had to go! It was started with the aim of creating more space for the arrival of baby number 4, but turned out to be an incredibly cleansing cathartic exercise too!
Amidst all this clearing, I found myself going through old drawers and cabinet contents that hadn’t been disturbed for years. And I came across an old bottle of Frankincense essential oil. Or so it said anyway! I bought this several years ago, when I was first becoming interested in the benefits of EO’s. And I remember at the time, thinking it smelt odd. There was something quite synthetic about it, and it seemed too floral. But I checked and re-checked the bottle and it definitely said ‘pure essential oil’ and even talked of the importance of diluting it because of its potency.
This was before I knew that the essential oil industry is not regulated. And an EO can be as little as 8% essential oil, and still legally say that it’s 100% pure on the bottle! Not only is this so misleading to the consumer, but your oil is going to be of such poor quality you won’t get any of the therapeutic benefits from it. A total waste of money. And that’s before I even get started on all the horrible synthetic chemicals and toxic ‘scents’ it’s filled with.
So when I found this phony Frankincense, I decided to ‘sniff test’ it (something normally reserved for laundry found on my teenage sons floor)’ alongside my doTerra bottle. And MY GOD, THE DIFFERENCE. They smelt NOTHING alike.
DoTerra is the only essential oil company that shares complete transparency with its customers on what goes into every bottle of their essential oil. Each bottle has a batch code/serial number on the bottom, which you can enter in this website – https://sourcetoyou.com/en
And from there you will receive the report and test results (which are done by an independent third party) showing you that your oil is not only 100% pure, but that it’s CERTIFIED PURE THERAPEUTIC GRADE (CPTG).
If you want a guarantee that the essential oil you are using in your home, and on your family, is exactly what it claims to be – you can’t get more confident and clear validation than this. So in conclusion, I have thrown away my phony Frankincense (about time too!) and feel grateful that’s it’s reinforced the knowledge that I now know – that is, that I am using the BEST quality and safest essential oil, on myself and my family.
